Drive

The Drive soundtrack is AMAZING! The music has an 80s electro pop with whimsical trance like feel to it. I listened to the soundtrack when I walked my dog the other day. The music is so rad that it made me feel cool even as I was picking up my dog's business. Now that says a lot!

Last sunday, J and i went to see the movie Drive. I do not dig violent movies but this wasn’t a typical shoot em up flick. Ryan G. (my crush) was very bada$$ in this movie. The first half of the movie was calm and serene and displayed the Los Angeles I love and see on a daily basis. Then the movie takes a turn and becomes darker.
There was a very sweet scene in which the Driver carries Benicio the little boy of the love interest, melted my heart! I also loved the elevator scene where the driver carries up the groceries while Benicio stares at him, smiles and then puts his hand on his face. My nephew does that when he gets shy.

Towards the middle of the movie an obnoxious man seated behind us said "this was a waste of my time and the worst movie i have ever seen, I need a smoke." A few ladies sitting next to him giggled endlessly at his remarks. Of course we were quiet while this man said all these things just tried to focus on the movie and drown him out. I was imagining telling him off in a clever way but I didn’t have the guts to do it. I like to be polite and wish others would have the same consideration.

BTW every time my hubby carries our nephews it not only melts but gets me excited for the day we are ready to start our own little family.

Day Gone to the Toilet

I left work early on September 19th to accompany my mom to her doctors appointment. We didn’t receive good news. Out of respect for my moms privacy, I will keep that info under wraps for now. She took it as well as could be expected. We both asked many questions, she also made a few funny remarks and laughed. The doctor said if she continues with her positive attitude and keeps on laughing and smiling then everything will be OK. Laughter is the best medicine, as hokey as that sounds, laughter and smiles have healing powers.

The day figuratively went down the toilet after the news about my mom and then literally did as well. That night when I was back home and watching TV with the hubby, our downstairs neighbor rang the doorbell. She asked us if we had a leak. We went to the bathroom and two inches of toilet water was quickly gushing into the main hall.

Wine Night Terminology

A few weeks ago, I went to a friends house to drink wine and watch TV shows and chit chat. It was a group of five of us gals all in our twenties.

Terms that I did not know existed before this night: Wigger & Absinthe.

FAIL

I give myself a FAIL at this blog thing... I need to post an entry everyday, even if it's just a word. I have a tendency to begin new hobbies and not finish them. My current hobby is photography since my new fancy camera came into my life.

Baby Bump Photo Shoot & Kate Spade bling!

On Saturday I took baby bump pictures of my friend J and her hubby J. I took almost 800 pictures! WOAH! I have to go through them all as I'm sure there are sizable amount of duds. I was playing with the buttons on the camera, i think the aperture is what i kept tinkering with. We took pictures at Lacy park in San Marino. If you are not a San Marino resident then be ready to pony up $4 to enter, if you are honest. If not then you can just walk in.

My friend J gave me super cute Kate Spade Earrings for helping plan her baby shower! I love them!

Once I got home Jacob was playing with our nephews. We were on babysitting duty while my sister had to fulfill carnival hours for Gael's school. I so appreciate all the hours my parents put in during my catholic school days.
We saw the movie E.T. that night with the nephews at an outdoor venue. Drew Barrymore introduced the movie, which was a fun surprise!

Baby Shower

I had the honor of helping plan the baby shower of a close friend. It was a giraffe theme. I like diy'ing when I can..

I helped in assembling the favors

I did a diy photo booth, dessert table, and tissue pom poms!

It was a beautiful clear day by the beach for a beautiful couple that will soon welcome a sweet baby into this world!

Sunday Beignets

Yum!
Not everything that comes in a box is bad. The beignets were yummy and easy to make!

Saturday Morning Visitors

Friday was my nephews’ fifth birthday and he spent the night at our place. On Saturday morning I gave him a bath and helped him get dressed. I was going to go in the bathroom to shower and the doorbell rang .Our dog Bailey began to bark like crazy, he hates doorbell rings. I peaked through our window, ohh Jehovah witnesses. I only saw their backs but they already looked familiar.

Let me paint the scene Im wearing green flannel pajama pants and a blue sweatshirt, my hair is in a frizzy pony tail mess and I was wearing my glasses which I don't wear outside of the house. I opened the door and my dog barked up a storm and stood by my feet as my nephew stood next to me to see who it was. I recognized the visitors immediately. They didn't seem to recognize me at first then I greet them by name by name and realization sets in. Who is it do you ask? None other than my new boss and his wife! He starts off by saying "oh so this is where you live." He seemed a tad uncomfortable but played it off well. I apologized for being in my PJs and I have no idea why I said that. They left politely soon after.

Missoni for Target

Yes I bought into the Missoni hype. I went to Target during my lunch hour on opening day to score some Missoni items. I thought I’ll get the Missoni throw, serving platters, bowls, a sweater or two, flats and a travel bag. FAIL! All I got was a pair of shoes, an eye mask, and a little girls’ sweater. SO I decided to go the next day when Target opened upon hearing they would receive a new shipment that night. I didn’t expect 30 other ladies to be waiting as well. I felt so stressed out. One incredibly cocky woman was talking about all the items she bought yesterday and how she was going to get more today to sell on eBay. She advised us all to expect to be shopping hours like she did yesterday. She had scoured all the aisles since people hid or left items in random places. I did not have hours I had 20 minutes tops.
Twenty minutes went by and all I had to show for it was a candle and a journal.

New Camera

I bought a new Canon DSLR as a birthday present to myself. I’m trying to find more creative outlets that I can pursue outside of work. My work isn’t creative what so ever.

Here are a few random pictures I have taken since getting it in August:

The dog is ours, his name is Bailey...
The cat, Camellia, belongs to my mom.

Name Change

I changed my last name this month. I first went to get my marriage license and waited in a long line to do so. Then drove directly to the only Social Security office I knew by my parents house. I sat down and waited and waited and waited until they called my name. I also went to the DMV to get a new license with my new name.

Changing your name is a such a process. Parting is such sweet sorrow, I love my maiden name so much and was with it for 29 years. It’s a bit of a tragic breakup well not a breakup more like its hibernating forever but always there. The first initial of my last name is P and it used to be a B! I am now closer to the end of the alphabet than the beginning of it, an adjustment but a happy one :)

Wedding Pictures

Got our wedding pictures in August! One night my sister came over with her two little boys and we were looking at my wedding pictures along with my husband. She looked at me and said "So is this the hair style you wanted at the wedding?" Is that supposed to be a positive statement?

In group wedding shots, many people were not smiling and/or not looking at the camera. Is this the photographers fault for not noticing and asking to retake the pictures?

Mouth Wash Chaos

One morning in September, I woke up as all the other mornings, silencing the alarm on my cell phone. Once I realized it was past 7am and I have to be at work by 8am, I rolled out of bed and rushed to the restroom. I brushed my teeth per usual and then used mouth wash. I was still a bit sleepy and somehow managed to spill mouthwash on my neck. So the entire morning while at work I had a huge red mark on my neck.

29 Candles

On the 19th of August I turned 29. I recently decided to log my journey to 30 and am now one month behind. I had to work on my birthday. I was being a whiny wanda that morning and I let everyone that I talk to frequently at work know that. I mentioned it was my birthday to a colleague in the morning, we work in different departments but I submit deposits to him everyday. He’s about a 6.5 on the creep meter, nice married older harmless man but sometimes the niceties come off weird for some reason. On this day his creep level reached 10.5 when after lunch he came by my cubicle and with little blue bag in tow. My mind sees the bag and hopes it isn’t what I think it is. I open it and it is, a Tiffany’s bracelet. Who does that!?? He got it at his lunch hour. I was so incredibly uncomfortable and in shock. I did not want to keep it. It all just felt so weird. He left and then after I regained my composure, I walked it back to him. I felt safer to give it to him when he was at his work station behind the secure glass window. He wasn’t happy that I gave it back to him. I felt once I gave him back the gift he would understand how inappropriate he was.

So that is how my birthday started, just peachy, not! After work, I had dinner with Jacob, my husband of two months at that point, and my family. We went to a tiny Italian place in Highland Park and we had to wait but it was worth it. On Saturday, J and I fondued, yum! Sunday was brunch with J and some of our closest friends, the people that we see the most these days were present. It's funny how throughout the years you can be very close or not as close as before with friends.
